Jean Koning’s back catalogue is being reissued on vinyl and CD

Vacirca Jean Koning‘s back catalogue of his first 5 albums is set to be reissued on vinyl over the next 5 months. The celebrated artist’s discography is the subject of a comprehensive reissue campaign by Eden Records Ltd., Coffee&CheeseCake Records, IM Media, Out Of Office Records, and Elastic Stage, a joint force, who are aiming to “ celebrate every aspect of Koning’s recording career and afford a comprehensive and exciting look at the evolution of one of the most singular and extraordinary artists of modern times. ” The reissue series will span Koning’s back catalogue of his first five studio albums, including a selection of albums from a later release-year than 2017. MAN ENOUGH TO BE A WOMAN–15th anniversary re-release...

Fifteen years ago, #JK released his solo-debut MAN ENOUGH TO BE A WOMAN on Eden Records Ltd. (now a division of Warner Music Group). The title, derived from the Jayne County biography, serves as a vehicle for the music on the album.  As Jayne is described Queen Of Shock ‘n’ Roll, Koning became the courting King to that title. With a slightly rough Southern States accent–despised by his record label, however–he surely serves as a King to Jayne’s Queen. Though the lyrical topics of the songs couldn’t be more remote from Jayne County, musically Koning took his new solo steps in a world County opened up for every freak on the planet–including Jean Koning. Koning shied away from his usual musing around with The Velvet Underground and went straight to a more Glam Punk attitude, embracing a number of synthesizers and demanding every guest musician on the album–even legendary Manu Katche and Pino Palladino–to approach his instrument merely as a percussion instrument.
