From The Hermit's Bedroom is the fifth studio album by Jean Koning. The album was written and recorded over a two-year period in Amsterdam, London and New York. Much of the recording was done alone by Koning using his four-track and eight-track home studio, piano, a variety of keyboards and sample machines. Final recording and mixing was done in the autumn and winter of 2016.
With a minimum of promotion, Jean send the album out into the world. At a very slow pace, the album garnered attention and success on social media and streaming sites. In the autumn of 2017, the extended version of the album was released on Spotify. The single release of Heroin on Soundcloud was the most succesful stream-single in Koning's solo-career.
