ongoing Covid-19 affairs | #sinnersongwriter10 // the 4K RESTORATION PROJECT (The fully restored YouTube Playlist)

Under the moniker “#sinnersongwriter10”—commemorating the tenth anniversary of his solo-career—a 4K restoration project was ignited with the release of the video “When Doves Cry”.

Living with the constant fear of repeating himself, #JK—as a solo self-proclaimed sinner-songwriter—the last ten years, has traveled through a variety of music-styles. Combining rock with jazz, funk, punk, electro, dance, and more avant-garde-ish styles, he became one of the pioneering artists, who openly rejected the tendence, ethics and popularity in the current music industry; paving a unique path for himself to follow.
Sonically, #JK never shied away from experiments—creating new instruments from the scratch and eschewing easy-going digital techniques available—but still maintained a somewhat accessible sound.

On the subject of video, #JK uses the same standards he set for himself when it comes to the use of tape or instrumentation. Whether it was 16mm, 8mm film, black and white, color, or a broken-down VHS camera; his videos portray a strange realm in the world of popularized video. Stand-alone works of art, almost.

Inspired by the works of Jean-Luc Godard, Alain Resnais, Agnès Varda (all of the French La Nouvelle Vague movement), Stanley Kubrick, Jean Renoir, Lev Kuleshov, Dziga Vertov, Esfir Shub, Vsevolod Pudovkin (who represent The Soviet Montage Theory), Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, Fritz Lang, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Volker Schlöndorff, Werner Herzog, Jean-Marie Straub, and Wim Wenders.

The fully restored video-playlist of the 4K-Restoration Project is now available here, or on YouTube.
