BOX’d–The Album: it could be a vessel for introduction to #JK’s work, a ‘for the moment definitive’ collection to add to his still growing and ongoing musical oeuvre.
It could easily be mistaken for a box in which a deceased career undergoes its final stages until it will be buried under a slab of marble for the rest of eternity (however unlikely, since there are rumors going around, that new music is on its way), or even a boxed wine version in comparison to the elite bottle of wine experiences all of his nine diverse concept albums had had to offer.
It could be a collection of ideas, ready to be displayed in the best Museum of Thought and Idea out there: the privacy of ones own living room.
It could even be a feeble attempt to further take distance from a shallow world of music; a world which you can hold in the palm of your hand, never feeling the pleasure of discovery, ownership, or connection.
The possibilities to BOX’d are vast and limitless.
However, let’s focus on the part of “the ideas”.

We’re delighted to announce BOX’D–The Album; a compilation album about good ideas and why some of them are ahead of their time, from musician, artist, and bestselling author Jean Koning.

It’s available to stream and on CD now, shipping worldwide from the UK.

Most of #JK’s songs are a brilliant idea, ahead of its time. So many breakthroughs in arts or science were like these, lost on their initial audience and only later revived and acknowledged to be great. This CD asks, why do some ideas fall asleep? And how do they wake up? And when they wake up: in whatever kind of shape or form (from the haunting to the soothing to the lovely to the exorcist for the masses) how do they stick, hang around, and taunt you for days?

#JK famously refused to give a definitive explanation to who or what he ultimately sings to. He prefers his songs to operate on dream logic and insists that the audience or the plain listener should trust their own intuition rather than rely on #JK’s strict roadmap.

#JK recently stated that the overall structure of BOX’d–The Album could be described as a psychological condition (partially inspired by the dire times in which we, as a human race, live our lives) in which a person suffering from immense guilt or trauma completely dissociates and creates a new identity to escape reality.
And some ‘best of’ albums still follow a certain story. But BOX’d feels like a dream, which narrative you can’t fully understand. #JK’s BOX’d is one of those rare musical experiences that completely breaks away from traditional storytelling.
There’s no clear structure, no comforting narrative; just a series of strange, haunting, and often bizarre moments that pull you into a world that feels both ancient and unreal.
It’s chaotic. It’s, at times, uncomfortable. And at other times, it doesn’t even try to make sense. But that is exactly what will make it unforgettable.
#JK has never tried to tell a simple story; he was creating a vision. A surreal, almost hypnotic journey through decadence, desire, and the absurdity of human nature.

This collection isn’t just for everyone. It challenges you, confuses you, and leaves you questioning what you just listened to. Love it or hate it… However, you won’t forget it…
